Sculptures from then and now in Munich’s Glyptothek

The Glyptothek in Munich opened a special exhibition in November. Some 30 works of the German sculptor Fritz Koenig are on display until March 30, 2025. They are contrasted with the ancient sculptures already on display in the Glyptothek. This is a formidable way to see the works from present and past, to let the visitor reflect on sculptures which were created millenniae a part.

The Altes museum in Berlin

The Altes museum in Berlin has the exhibition Goddesses and Consorts that is running until 16th March. It focuses on ancient myths and the female goddesses known in mythology. These are then looked at from the perspective of the ancient world. The exhibition has received feedback where tourists could leave remarks. A large amount of the answers were in English so it seemed to be a success with international visitors.

The permanent exhibition “Ancient Worlds. Greeks, Etruscans, and Romans” is also still available. Known as the Antikensammlung (antique collection) in German, it shows artifacts that span the Aegean Bronze Age to the late Roman period.
