Let’s be real: you can’t absolutely guarantee snow for your ski vacation! But don’t worry! There are some ways to boost your chances of hitting the slopes with perfect conditions. Get ready to dive into some concrete advice.

Choose to stay in a hotel that is near several ski stations

The fact is that you cannot be sure that one particular station will have snow. It may be convenient to stay in a hotel just next to a ski station. Consider booking a hotel in a charming town close to several ski stations. This way, you can easily connect with the locals to find out which ski station offers the best conditions for your exciting skiing adventures. Enjoy every moment on the slopes!

Check the track record for snow at your ski station of interest

The climate may be changing, but it is not happening overnight (well, slowly). Be sure to look up the snow conditions in various ski areas over the last few years, or even up to the past five years. This will help you gauge the likelihood of snow during your upcoming ski vacation.

Head high up to improve your chances

As you climb every 1000 meters, the average temperature drops and by some estimates almost 10C on average. This of course is changing. As the zero-degree level is descending over time, we need to look higher for sub-zero temperatures and the freezing point.

Choose north-facing ski slopes

Think of the sun's motions. For us in the north hemisphere the sun is always due south. So if you choose a north-facing ski slope, there is less sun and better chances for higher snow quality and more consistent ski conditions.
