Fountain in Paris, France

Is now a good time to visit Paris for a late summer weekend?

In the beginning of the summer hotels in Paris saw a slower start to the so common rush for rooms. This may have something to do with the Olympic Games which naturally would bring more crowds. Now when the Olympic Games have completed, there is an uptick in the number of hotel reservations. Tourists simply avoided the city as it was expected to be overcrowded. Now as we are well into August and September is coming closer, the interest for Paris holidays hae increased. This is seen also in the number of museum visitors, for example The Louvre that saw almost one fifth of the usual number of visitors while the Olympic Games was taking place.

The Orsay museum also saw a drop in the visitor numbers, with almost a third less compared to the same period in summer 2023.

September and late summer Parisian weekends

The upside to visiting the French capital in the end of summer is that the temperatures are slightly lower and then of course, that means you can enjoy strolls along the Seine as well as sitting out without longing for beaches (such as the ones in the south of France, check out a road trip around Cannes on the French Riviera and explore Nice and the French Riviera).
