Amid summer vacations we can look forward to several festivals in June and July. Let's look at a few festivals that are about to begin.
Festival Django Reinhardt starts on 22 June and is of course dedicated to the music style of the Belgian jazz artist with the same name. There will be four stages in different locations where the swing style music, Fontainebleau, the Luthiers village, Samois, and Samoreau. This festival has been around since 1968 and now runs for several days, between 22-25 June. If you are a jazz fan and particularly like the swing style, this is an event not to miss.
The Bordeaux Wine Festival is held between 22-25 June and as the name suggests this is a tribute to wine. But as a whole, the festival presents the gastronomy of the region, and you will have excellent options to sample both food and wine. Give the tasting tour a try, admire the tall ships, and check out this year's unique visual drone show at night.
Jazz a Vienne takes place in Vienne, close to Lyon in France (check out “buying wine in French in Lyon“. Join a couple of hundred thousand jazz lovers in this festival that is held in the Théâtre Antique, built in the first century AD. The festival lasts for close to two weeks, from 28 June to 13 July and this year it is the 42nd edition of the jazz festival.
The Montreux Jazz Festival is held for two weeks, from 30 June to 15 July. This festival is close to both the Alps and Lake Geneva and hosts big music artists, you might call it a prestige festival among jazz lovers and musicians. You can expect 380 concerts in total, of which 250 are free.
